Glass frogs are known for their thin and partially transparent skin, especially on their bodies.

It is believed that the skin acts as a kind of camouflage and makes it easier for the frogs to hide from the predators of the forests.

The female frogs develop 20-30 eggs and they are clearly visible through the skin, just like the animal’s organs. However, it is the male frogs who take care of the eggs until they hatch and, for example, keep parasites away from them.

The organs of the frogs are covered with a layer of pigment cells, which can reflect light and thus protect against strong sunlight and the heat it brings. In the wild, these frogs can live to be more than ten years old.
